Things to Do in Henderson, NV

Henderson sits right outside of Las Vegas, and offers up a
good mix of family friendly activities and historical sites. Explore some of
its most fun activities in our brief list below.
Lake Las Vegas
Perhaps the most visited spot around Henderson, Lake Las
Vegas spans some 320 acres and has over 10 miles of gorgeous shoreline. During
the warmer months, Lake Las Vegas is a haven for outdoor water sports such as
boating, fishing, skiing, and waverunning. The area around the Lake is home to
exquisite houses, resorts (where you can be pampered from head to toe), casual
dining and more. And with nearly 365 days of sunshine, you’d be hard pressed to
find a reason not to live it up on the lake.
Ethel M
Check out Ethel M for some of Henderson’s most impressive
light displays, especially during the holidays. The Store was founded in 1981
and has served up scrumptious gourmet chocolates ever since. Explore the
factory and watch chocolatiers make chocolatey treats through the viewing isle,
or head outside to the largest cactus garden in the US with your treats in
hand.
Lion Habitat
Lion Habitat is a real-life sanctuary for lions. The Habitat
aims to protect and preserve Lions and build awareness about them. They offer
behind the scenes tours, allow you to feed some of the other safari animals, and
even have a feast with the beasts. It’s a great time for the whole family.
Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve
Another area you can take the entire family to is the Henderson
Bird Viewing Preserve. The preserve spans some 140 acres and is home to desert
birds of every variety. The paths that wind around the preserve’s nine ponds
make for the perfect bird watching environment. Compete with each other to see
who can find the most migratory and native birds to sweeten your visit.
Crafthaus Brewery
If you’re in the mood for a good beer, check out the
Crafthaus Brewery on Eastgate Road. Try a variety of beers from their
Belgian-style ales, to West Coast India Pale Ales, to White Indian Pale Ales
and so much more. The brewery also holds special events including Half Time
Blitz, Geeks Who Drink and the like. Go on Sunday for a free tour of the brewery.
River Mountain Loop Trail
When you’re ready to burn off your buzz, head on over to the
River Mountain Loop Trail. It has over 34 miles of trails that merry Henderson,
the Hoover Dam, Boulder City, and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Enjoy
an opportunity to explore the trails on bike, on foot, or even on horseback if
you like.
