The Las Vegas area is full of fun things to do. Known as an oasis in the desert, you can rest easy knowing you’ll never run out of things to do here. One of our favorite family activities is a visit out to Bonnie Springs and Spring Mountain Ranch.
Overview of Bonnie Springs & Spring Mountain Ranch
Bonnie Springs and Spring Mountain Ranch are just a quick 35-minute southwest drive from Las Vegas.
Bonnie Springs is an old western Nevada city and is known as the hidden gem of Red Rock Canyon. It’s complete with a replica of an old western city and it offers plenty of family activities everyone can enjoy. It’s a great place to explore what life was once like on the frontier.
Spring Mountain Ranch is another fun location for families just outside of Las Vegas. During the summer months, Spring Mountain Ranch offers a Super Summer Theatre, which plays host to a variety of shows from May to September. While you might think that an outdoor theater sounds like a terrible idea in the middle of the desert, but Spring Mountain Ranch is about 5-7 degrees cooler than the Vegas Strip all year long. It sits in the base of a canyon, which also means it’s a nice and shady spot in the evening time.
Historically, Spring Mountain Ranch State Park was a real working ranch that also hosted interesting characters like Howard Hughes as a luxury retreat. When you visit these two spots, there is so much to do, check out a few of those family activities below.
